Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - NICU
Location: Mission Hills, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (NICU)
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Equivalent to every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday) plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
- On-Call: Not required
- Floating: May be required occasionally to float to nursery or baby transition role if delivery volumes are high (includes routine baby care, assessments, breastfeeding support, labs)
- Charting System: EPIC (experience preferred)
- Block Scheduling: Available at manager discretion
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
- Scrub Color: Any color; L/D & OR scrubs provided
- Parking: Free
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- Fire Card (must be obtained prior to or within 30 days of start)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN or NCC certification (if required)
- IV Certification (if required)
Required Licenses and Verifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- State license copy and verification as applicable
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification (nursing degree)
- Drug screening: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations or documented immunity for:
- TB (negative test or chest x-ray)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respiratory safety clearance (annual medical clearance for respirator use)
Additional Information
- Floating policy acknowledgment required (may float to other units within reasonable distance)
- Modules and training: Completion of required regulatory, specialty-specific, and system-level training modules annually via LMS platform
- Epic training transcripts required prior to start or shortly after orientation
- Background checks and state-specific searches as required by state law and facility policy
