    Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

    Location: Orange, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks
    Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
    Start Date: ASAP


    Job Description

    Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to work 16-hour shifts in a large acute care hospital setting. The role requires the ability to circulate during procedures and work weekends that may exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs. Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered. Travel pairs are not accepted.


    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
    • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
    • AWHONN Intermediate certification
    • CHEMO certification
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

    Work Environment

    • Acute Care Hospital with Magnet recognition
    • Total staffed beds: 426
    • Charting system: Epic
    • Free parking available

    Compliance and Documentation Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
    • Drug screening: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
      • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Respirator clearance required annually for travel staff
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
    • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years

    Training and Competency Requirements

    • Completion of required WorkRamp modules including:
      • Annual regulatory requirements
      • Specialty-specific modules for Labor and Delivery
      • Epic training modules (if applicable)
    • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
    • Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of fetal heart rate monitoring assessment exam

    Additional Notes

    • Weekend work may be required beyond every other weekend
    • Scheduling requests related to outside employment will not be accommodated
    • Travel pairs are not accepted
    • Local radius for assignment is 50 miles

    This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience who meet all certification and licensing requirements and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, large hospital environment.
