Description
Job Opportunity: RN Surgery
Location: Franklin, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Schedule & Work Details
- Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM with variable start times
- On-call required based on department needs: approximately 1-2 times during weekday evenings and every 3rd weekend
- Holiday coverage rotates with regular staff
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to nearby sites within 40 miles
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Prior completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Orthopedic surgery experience with strong orthopedic skills
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current ACLS certification
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
Candidates must provide and maintain the following:
Professional Credentials
- Current RN license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Resume/Profile and at least two professional references
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others as required
- Employment verification for the past seven years
- Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documents
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive immunity titer (no declinations accepted)
- Proof of two Varicella vaccines or immunity verification (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (October 1 through March 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA test, chest X-ray if positive, and annual TB questionnaire
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 Regular, 3M 1860 Small, or 3M 1870+), updated annually
Testing & Competency
- Specialty exam demonstrating competency in surgical nursing (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
- EKG exam with passing score of at least 80%, updated every 3 years
- Skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually
- Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation
Additional Requirements
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
- Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and match address on file)
- Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
Summary
This is a long-term surgical RN assignment requiring at least 2 years of OR experience with strong orthopedic skills and prior travel experience. The role involves variable shifts with on-call responsibilities and potential floating to nearby sites. Candidates must be proficient with EPIC and hold current BLS and ACLS certifications. Comprehensive onboarding and health compliance documentation are mandatory.
