Description

Registered Respiratory Therapist

Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Clinical - Allied - DPC
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Position Summary

  • Provide respiratory care as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory therapy treatments based on physician diagnosis and care instructions.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment delivering high-quality, compassionate respiratory care.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and recommend respiratory therapy treatments.
  • Administer respiratory therapy including aerosolized medication, sputum inductions, ventilator/BiPAP management.
  • Monitor patients on mechanical ventilation and adjust treatment as needed.
  • Document patient treatment, response, and progress.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function and sleep studies.
  • Maintain and operate respiratory therapy equipment.
  • Respond to emergency calls (e.g., CODE 99, Trauma, RRT) and assist with airway management and CPR.
  • Consult with physicians regarding treatment modalities.
  • Educate patients and families on equipment use and self-care techniques.
  • Participate in and attend required in-service education programs.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment in assigned areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged standing, reaching, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items up to 25 pounds.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from NBRC
  • Current BLS certification
  • Associate degree
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
