    Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)

    Location: Jackson, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Description

    • Provide nursing care in Labor and Delivery.
    • Floating duties may include sitter or helping hands roles if census is low and other departments need assistance.
    • Schedule includes every other weekend.

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
    • Minimum of 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
    • Certifications required:
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
      • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
      • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
      • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
      • CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)
      • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
      • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
      • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
      • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
    • Education: Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.

    Background and Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
    • Various federal and state screenings including EPLS, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, and Sex Offender Search.
    • Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
    • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to California law).
    • Physical exam required within 1 year of start.
    • Fit mask test required within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually.
    • Immunizations and health screenings required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start; annual renewal required.
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination.
      • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30).
    • Drug testing and other health documents must be current and compliant.

    Competency and Skills

    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
    • Telemetry competency exam required for ICU nurses.
    • Unit-specific skills checklist required; renew annually.
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required.

    Additional Information

    • Candidates must complete and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation.
    • Employment application must include a full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
    • References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical positions.
    • Floating to other departments may be required based on census.
