Registered Nurse - Operating Room (CVOR)
Location: La Mesa, California
Employment Type: Travel Nursing (Clinical - Nursing - Travel)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) with a focus on open heart procedures. When no cardiac cases are scheduled, support other surgical specialties including orthopedic, neurological, and robotic surgeries.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient- and family-centered care aimed at achieving individualized, holistic goals.
- Develop, implement, and adapt comprehensive nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Use the nursing process to provide safe and therapeutic care.
- Evaluate patient and family progress toward goals and adjust care plans as needed.
- Assess and address patient and family educational needs using adult-learning principles.
- Recognize and overcome communication barriers, utilizing interdisciplinary resources.
- Advocate for patients and families, supporting participation in decision-making and upholding rights.
- Document patient care and communicate needs according to departmental policies.
- Delegate and assign care tasks appropriately within team members’ scope of practice.
- Coordinate and collaborate with healthcare team members and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and workflow.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), specifically open heart surgery
