Registered Nurse - Operating Room (CVOR)

Location: La Mesa, California
Employment Type: Travel Nursing (Clinical - Nursing - Travel)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) with a focus on open heart procedures. When no cardiac cases are scheduled, support other surgical specialties including orthopedic, neurological, and robotic surgeries.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver patient- and family-centered care aimed at achieving individualized, holistic goals.
Develop, implement, and adapt comprehensive nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Use the nursing process to provide safe and therapeutic care.
Evaluate patient and family progress toward goals and adjust care plans as needed.
Assess and address patient and family educational needs using adult-learning principles.
Recognize and overcome communication barriers, utilizing interdisciplinary resources.
Advocate for patients and families, supporting participation in decision-making and upholding rights.
Document patient care and communicate needs according to departmental policies.
Delegate and assign care tasks appropriately within team members’ scope of practice.
Coordinate and collaborate with healthcare team members and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and workflow.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Strong experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), specifically open heart surgery
