Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist I (RT-I) is a licensed professional responsible for performing respiratory therapy procedures, cardio-respiratory diagnostics, and patient assessments under physician direction. The RRT will assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders, manage respiratory care modalities, and supervise respiratory therapy technicians. Responsibilities include initiating therapeutic procedures, maintaining patient records, and operating respiratory equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience with emergency department procedures
• Exposure to the management of neonatal patients
• Experience with patient transport (both inter- and intra-hospital)
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Skills and Abilities

• Strong communication skills in English, including reading, writing, and verbal interaction with patients and healthcare team members.
• Proficient computer skills for navigating electronic medical records.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and simple algebra for medication dosing calculations.
• Professional conduct adhering to ethical standards and confidentiality (HIPAA).
• Ability to prioritize emergent vs. non-emergent requests and troubleshoot unclear physician orders.

Additional Information

• This is a travel assignment with a 13-week contract length.
• The role requires working in a fast-paced academic medical center setting.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
