Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Weekends required, 3 shifts per weekend, 12 hours each (Night Shift)
- Floating: May be required to float between campuses
- Patient Ratio: Not applicable
- Equipment: GE Ventilators
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- High School Diploma and College Diploma or official transcripts from a Respiratory Therapy program
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- Other certifications may be unit-specific; verify as needed
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education accreditation confirmation required for Respiratory Therapy program
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership role
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies
- Annual acknowledgment of ethics and compliance policies
- Facility-specific orientation and competency exams may be required, including medication and unit-specific competency exams
Notes
- Candidates must complete fingerprinting using Ohio BCI & FBI codes prior to start; fingerprinting results must be clear or adjudicated if hits occur
- Floating between campuses may be required, so flexibility is important
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Official transcripts or third-party verification required; unofficial transcripts are not accepted
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists seeking a travel contract with weekend night shifts and the opportunity to work with advanced ventilator equipment in a multi-campus setting.
