    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MICU

    Location: Everett, Washington
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Details

    • Start Date: ASAP
    • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days)
    • Weekends Required: Yes
    • Float Required: Yes (may float to telemetry units if needed)
    • Locals Accepted: No
    • Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2-week period
    • First-timers: Accepted only with 2-3 years of experience

    Unit Description

    • High acuity, fast-paced Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
    • Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including:
      • Respiratory failure requiring noninvasive or mechanical ventilation
      • Post central venous line (CVL) care
      • Cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management (TTM)
      • Multisystem organ failure, various shock states
      • Stroke (CVA) post tissue plasminogen activator (TPa)
      • COVID-19, ARDS, DKA, alcohol withdrawal
    • Common procedures: bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, paracentesis, thoracentesis, code blue response
    • Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 2:1; may increase to 4:1 during high census with boarders
    • 1 CNA per shift to assist

    Required Certifications

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
    • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
    • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
    • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
    • NIHSS certification
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

    Additional Requirements

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Immunizations and health documents including:
      • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
      • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
      • COVID vaccine or declination
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years

    • Level II Trauma Center
    • Total staffed beds: 571 (across campuses)
    • Charting system: EPIC
    • Scrub color: Any except reddish orange
    • Parking: Facility paid

    Notes

    • Floating to other units is rare but possible
    • High acuity environment requiring strong critical care skills
    • Must be prepared for a fast-paced, complex patient population

    This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs seeking a challenging travel assignment in a well-equipped, high-acuity MICU setting.
