Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse
Location: Apple Valley, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a Level III NICU with approximately 190 births per month
- Weekend shifts every other weekend, may exceed to meet unit needs
- No floating between units required
- No on-call required
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- NICU experience within the last year
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital setting
- Total staffed beds: 212
- Charting system: Epic
- Free parking available
Scheduling & Hours
- Guaranteed hours with allowance for 1 shift call-off per 2 weeks by facility
- No block scheduling accommodation
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- 9-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use (annual)
- Fit mask testing (annual)
Background & Verification
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required for nursing degree
- Employment application covering last 5 years
- Minimum 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in relevant specialty
- State-specific background checks as applicable
Training & Competency
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules prior to start (regulatory, specialty, and regional modules)
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Epic training modules completion required
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgement required (may be asked to float within reasonable distance)
- All time-off requests must be submitted at time of application and are subject to approval based on unit needs
