Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Madison, Indiana

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care while promoting quality outcomes and customer satisfaction. The role includes supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, mentoring, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. You will apply evidence-based practice within a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
• Develop, prioritize, and implement plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Provide education tailored to patient and family needs throughout the care continuum.
• Delegate tasks and function as a mentor/preceptor to staff.
• Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts.
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure care environment.
• Recognize complex patient data to determine care priorities.
• Address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice research.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience, including at least 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current certifications in:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
