Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Job Description

• Provide high-risk Labor & Delivery nursing care in an acute patient setting.
• Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
• Deliver holistic, individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
• Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
• No on-call duties; weekend rotation required.
• Must have experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in OB/GYN nursing.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification.
• Proficient in EKG.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
• Annual updates for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS Level 3 screenings.
• Education verification required; BSN preferred.
• Sex offender search and other regulatory screenings as mandated.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B immunity or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually.
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client).
• Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps.

Competency and Skills Testing

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required.
• Onsite EKG exam required for ICU RNs (may apply here).

Additional Notes

• Candidate must review and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, and vendor training.
• No on-call required, but weekend rotations are mandatory.
• This position requires strong communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary team environment.
