Description
Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients; observe physiological manifestations and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medications as prescribed; initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver competent patient care.
- Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- At least 2 years of travel nursing experience.
