Registered Nurse - ACCU Travel
Location: Moreno Valley, California
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks (90 days)
Job Description
- Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Reassess patient health needs at least every shift and as warranted.
- Establish and update individualized plans of care based on comprehensive data.
- Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 rights.
- Assess and document medication effectiveness and any adverse effects.
- Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing best practices, hospital policies, sterile technique, standard precautions, and patient privacy.
- Document patient responses, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress toward goals accurately and legibly.
- Educate patients and families based on assessed needs.
- Interpret diagnostic data and intervene appropriately.
- Communicate promptly any changes in patient condition to physicians and healthcare team members using SBAR communication.
- Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
- Manage patients in restraints according to policy.
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including use of two patient identifiers.
- Understand and participate in disaster plans and rapid response activation.
- Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards (Code Blue, Code Pink, Code Red, Haz Mat, Oxygen shut off).
- Follow infection control policies and blood transfusion protocols.
- Adhere to Core Measures and vaccine control guidelines.
- Perform hand hygiene before and after patient contact.
Critical Care Nurse Specific Tasks
- Document initial assessments, multidisciplinary care plans, progress notes, ICU flow sheets, medication records, medication reconciliation, critical values, and telephone orders.
- Use Pyxis system appropriately for narcotics.
- Follow policies for administration of high-risk medications.
- Utilize pressure monitoring, bedside cardiac monitors, recognize cardiac dysrhythmias, and operate specialty beds.
- Manage pain and sedation protocols.
- Follow early mobility protocols.
- Adhere to protocols for sepsis, ventilator-associated pneumonia, pressure ulcers, and central lines.
- Demonstrate knowledge of nurse-collected specimens for Type and Cross/Screen.
- Accurately assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of critically ill patients.
- Access appropriate resources when assistance is needed.
- Locate and use unit-specific policies as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
- Intermediate Care experience
Additional Information
- Shift: Days
- Traveler will float to ICU, Emergency Department, PACU to care for ICU patients.
- Must also float to care for full Intermediate Care (IMC) patients in various units.
This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs with strong acute care skills and flexibility to work across multiple critical care settings.
