Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for an Operating Room position on a travel/contract basis in Fortuna, CA.

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California.

• Experience: Minimum years of experience not explicitly stated; please ensure you meet or exceed typical OR RN experience requirements.

• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification required.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society.
  • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable).
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable).
  • IV Certification (as required).
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (as required).
  • NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years, if applicable).
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable).

• Background Checks:

  • Comprehensive background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
  • Education verification required for all candidates.
  • State-specific background checks as applicable.

• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations including:

    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).

• References and Employment History:

  • Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
  • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors).

Competencies and Training Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
• Competency exams required by specialty.
• Color Blind Testing if required by unit.
• Specialty-specific competency exams (e.g., Medication Aide exam for TMAs in LTC settings).
• Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS platform (WorkRamp).
• Epic system training modules may be required depending on region and role.

• Float Policy: May be required to float to other nearby facilities within a reasonable distance.
