Job Description

• Charge nurse responsibilities every shift (includes a charge shift differential).
• Must have leadership experience in a Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) unit within the past year.
• Experience with staff scheduling and coaching required.
• No floating required.
• Charting experience with EPIC is required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with recent experience within the last year
• Leadership experience in a MedSurg unit within the past year
• Experience with scheduling and coaching staff
• Experience with EPIC charting
• Certifications and verifications:

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national sex offender registry, education verification, and eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Primary source verification of state nursing license within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.
• Health-related requirements and lab work must be completed within 5 days of contract signing, including:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• References: 2 references within 3 years required for agency compliance.
• Employment application and skills checklist required.
• Work history verification of at least 2 past employments.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required. First-time travelers are accepted.
• Some weekend shifts are required.
• Candidates must be able to work charge nurse shifts consistently.
