Registered Nurse - Post Partum

Job Description

• Independently prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients under nurse leader supervision.
• Performs nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care.
• Creates a compassionate environment supporting patient and family through authentic presence and trust-building.
• Collects and documents patient data; interprets assessment data to identify physiological and psychosocial risk factors.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Prioritizes nursing actions based on education, experience, and assessment data interpretation.
• Establishes nursing diagnoses and evaluates effectiveness of interventions, revising care plans as needed.
• Manages rapidly changing patient situations and activates emergency protocols when necessary.
• Performs nursing process consistent with scientific principles and hospital policy using critical thinking and judgment.
• Coordinates care activities with nurses, physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers.
• Works effectively within team dynamics and assures quality of care through adherence to evidence-based practices.
• Provides safe patient care adhering to infection control, medication administration, and controlled substance regulations.
• Participates in staff meetings, professional governance, and nursing practice development activities.
• Completes required competencies, mandatory classes, and educational coursework.
• Maintains knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice.
• Adheres to RN scope of practice as defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and ANA standards.
• Monitors own and others’ practices related to patient and employee safety and compliance.
• Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in postpartum nursing care.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience.
• Valid and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Knowledge and experience with Cerner EMR system.
• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Must meet all health requirements designated by the employer.
• Knowledge of advanced nursing theory, techniques, medical terminology, instruments, equipment, and medication effects.
