Registered Nurse (OR)

Location: Kankakee, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Department: Operating Room (OR)
• Shifts:

  • 06:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 06:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Potential for 12-hour shifts (to be discussed with management)
• Call Requirements:

  • Weeknight: 1-2 calls per week (end of shift to beginning of next day)
  • Weekend: Every 3rd to 5th weekend (Saturday morning to start of shift Monday)
  • Holiday: Rotational coverage as needed
  • Call response time: Must be within 30 minutes while on call (no exceptions)
• Floating: No floating required
• Orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor, plus meeting with educator
• Scrubs: Provided

Patient Care & Cases

• Average cases per day: 18-24
• Number of OR suites: 12
• Common cases include:

  • Urology (cystoscopies, robotic surgeries, appendectomies, bowel cases)
  • Orthopedics (hands/feet surgeries, pins, joint replacements)
  • Neurosurgery (lumbar and cranial procedures)
  • Hernia repairs
  • Vascular surgeries
  • C-sections (typically covered by OB)
• Use of Intuitive Surgical Robot technology

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS Certification
• Experience with orthopedic, neurology, and urology cases
• Experience with Epic EMR system

Experience

• Experience with robotic surgery preferred but not mandatory
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Additional Notes

• Charge nurses available on unit
• OR techs available for scrub support
• No floating to other units
• Dress code: scrubs provided on site

This position is ideal for an experienced OR RN with a strong background in orthopedic, neuro, and urology surgical cases, comfortable with robotic surgery technology, and able to meet call and shift requirements.
