- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Beds: 44
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: 2 CNC/Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC
- Night Shift: 2 CNC/Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, stretched to 5:1
- Equipment Used: IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pump, Chest tubes, Trachs, Patient lifts
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit specializing in neuro and trauma care.
- Typical procedures include:
- Neuro and spinal checks
- C-Collar placement, TLSO braces
- Chest tube management, PCA pump operation, IV infusions
- Lumbar drain care
- Feeding tube placement
- Blood transfusions
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of recent experience in a Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Experience in neuro trauma care
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
Additional Information
- Floating areas may include stepdown units and med-surg units
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend required
