Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry)

Location: Show Low, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week guaranteed (with up to 3 cancellations allowed)

Job Overview

• MedSurg/Telemetry travel nurse position in a regional hospital with 24 MedSurg beds equipped with telemetry capability.
• Patient population: Adults only (pediatric patients are assigned to permanent staff).
• Float responsibilities include all MedSurg units and ICU (handling MedSurg overflow patients).
• Strong neuro and cardiac nursing skills are essential.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Day shift: 1:5
  • Night shift: 1:6
• Support staff on unit includes telemetry technicians, charge nurses, health unit coordinators (HUCs), and patient care technicians (PCTs).
• Nurse managers conduct rounds but do not provide direct patient care.
• Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7.
• Respiratory therapists and pharmacy services are available 24/7.
• No IV team on site.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Sunrise Allscripts.
• Scrub color: any color except all black; scrubs are not provided.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in Med Surg/Telemetry.
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification is preferred but not required.
