Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU / Adult / ER / ICU
Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel / Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: Night shift
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend plus every other holiday
On Call: Potential mandatory on call, 2 shifts per month
Floating: Required to float within scope to ER, Adult ICU Stepdown, pediatric unit, and adult floors as needed
Block Schedule: Possible at manager's discretion

Job Description
- Provide respiratory therapy services across multiple units including NICU, adult ICU, ER, pediatric unit, and stepdown units.
- NICU assignments vary based on acuity; this is not a NICU-only position.
- Responsibilities include airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments.
- Experience preferred in NICU, ED, adult ICU, emergency department, and level 2 trauma.
- Must attend monthly department meetings or review minutes and acknowledge understanding.
- Work setting includes adult critical care, emergency room, and community hospital environments.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Care Practitioner experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- CRTT (Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- RRT credential (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
- Experience in NICU, ED, adult ICU, emergency department, and level 2 trauma preferred
Special Skills / Requirements
- Proficient in airway management, medication administration, ABGs, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
- Ability to provide aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies during night shifts
- Experience with adult and neonatal intensive care, emergency department, and trauma care preferred but not mandatory
- Must be able to attend or review monthly department meetings

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Virginia state respiratory therapist license with primary source verification
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/state registries
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Drug testing within 30 days prior to start
- Immunizations and health screenings including TB test or chest X-ray, flu vaccination or approved exemption, and other standard vaccines (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella)
- Fit mask (N95) testing and attestation as applicable
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, confidentiality, and code of conduct acknowledgments
- References: 2 required from supervisors or licensed providers within the last 2 years (outside of this facility if previously employed here)
- Employment application and work history verification (minimum 2 years)
Notes
- Candidates may start with ACLS certification pending but must obtain it within 90 days
- Night shift requires ability to provide various respiratory therapies and manage critical care patients
- Floating to multiple units is mandatory to meet patient care needs
- Attendance or acknowledgment of monthly department meetings is required
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
