Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Jacksonville, Illinois

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1:6 for all shifts
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year Med Surg nursing experience
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Will float between 2 Med Surg units as needed
• Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
• Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
• License Requirement: Must have an active Illinois RN license or be in the application process with ETA to apply

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred
• Other: Experience starting IVs required; Cerner charting experience preferred

• Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital
• Magnet Status: Magnet-designated hospital
• Beds: 25 staffed beds
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Any solid color allowed
• Parking: Permit required, no cost

Special Requirements & Preferences

• Med Surg experience required
• Experience starting IVs required
• Cerner and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred

Time Off & Scheduling Notes

• Time off requests must be discussed with manager
• Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation
• If placed on-call instead of called off, it counts as a called-off shift

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• Various state-specific criminal and offender registry searches required within 30 days of start
• Fingerprinting required in Illinois (must be completed in-state 3 business days prior to start) for clinical candidates without an IL license
• Education verification required
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
• Fit mask testing required (specific mask types accepted)
• Immunization and health documentation required (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, TB test or chest X-ray, flu vaccination or approved exemption)
• References: 2 professional references required

Additional Notes

• Candidate must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Badge photo required within one week of signing contract
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required within 7 days of contract signing

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Med Surg nursing experience of at least 1 year within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
