Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Grand Island, Nebraska
Job Overview
- Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
- Location: Grand Island, Nebraska
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days (06:30 AM – 03:00 PM)
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
- Orientation: 1 week unit/department-specific OR orientation
- Call Requirements:
- One weeknight per week on call
- Every 5th or 6th weekend on call (Saturday/Sunday)
- Rotating holiday call
- Floating: May float to Pre/Post Op, PACU (if trained), and ER for trauma cases
Clinical Responsibilities
- Ability to circulate in multiple surgical specialties: orthopedics, general surgery, urology, neurosurgery, ENT preferred
- Scrubbing experience is a plus
- Must be well versed in all surgical procedures across service lines (no specialized teams)
- Common cases include adults, geriatrics, pediatrics, obstetrics, neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedic, gynecology, general surgery, and Da Vinci robotics cases
- Department has 7 OR suites and 2 Endoscopy suites
- Use of EPIC electronic medical record system
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Valid driver’s license required at submission
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in neurosurgery and experience across all surgical service lines is required
- Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (open book, resources provided)
Additional Requirements & Policies
- Radius rule: Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility and may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any affiliated facilities within the specified health system
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
- Core staff values teamwork, flexibility, safety, and willingness to educate others
- No additional requests for release time off (RTO) beyond 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved
- Charge nurse is present on each shift and does not take patient assignments
- OR techs are available to assist
- Scrub color and dress code are provided by the facility

- Staff scheduled 5 days per week with block scheduling
