Registered Nurse (PCU 4N) - Savannah, Georgia
Job Details
- Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU 4N)
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Contract Length: 14 weeks
- Unit Size: 12 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5 depending on acuity
- Orientation:
- One day computer skills training with basic knowledge assessment
- Two shifts orientation with preceptor
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
Patient Population & Unit Info
- Combination of Medical-Surgical and Stepdown patients
- Common diagnoses include Med-Surg conditions, Sickle Cell, heart failure
- Telemetry monitoring required (monitored remotely on 3rd floor)
- RN responsibilities include titrating set rate drips (no phlebotomy; RNs draw their own labs)
- Respiratory therapy equipment includes nasal cannulas, face masks, BiPAP
- Charge nurse takes an assignment
- Nurse aides present with a 12:1 patient-to-aide ratio
- Tele monitors brand: Space Lab
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Self-scheduling allowed
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday work required
- No call or standby requirement
- No floating required
- Dress code: Navy scrubs
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in PCU or similar hospital setting with solid PCU skillset
- Must have successfully completed at least 1 prior travel nursing contract
- Experience in a hospital of similar size and acuity required
- Candidates must pass clinical resume review for facility consideration
- Strict 100-mile radius rule enforced; local candidates will not be considered
