Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Tracy, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide individualized nursing care using nursing fundamentals and pharmacology knowledge for geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients from admission through discharge.
- Work in an Operating Room setting with focus on General Surgery, Orthopedics, Spine, Urology, Robotics, OB/GYN (C-sections), Plastic Surgery, and Robotics.
- Circulating nurse role with conscious sedation experience required.
- On-call requirement includes overnights on weekdays, 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Conscious sedation experience required.
- Experience in Orthopedics, Urology, OB/GYN, and Plastic Surgery specialties.
Shift Details
- Day shifts, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day.
- Shift options: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM or 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM.
- Total 40 hours per week.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law).
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years required.
- TB screening: Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests).
- Immunizations required or proof of immunity for: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season. Religious and medical exemptions considered with proper documentation.
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually.
Additional Requirements
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and renewed annually.
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and possibly dysrhythmia/EKG competency.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training may be completed onsite during orientation.
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- On-call availability as specified (overnights, weekends, holidays).

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- All certifications must be current and from approved organizations (AHA or ARC for BLS, ACLS, PALS).
- Candidates with religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific exemption forms and obtain approval.
