Description
Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Fishers, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Critical Care Float Nurse
- Float assignments across ICU, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (MS), and Emergency Department (ED) as needed
- Rotating day/night shifts with planned time off between shift changes for rest and recovery
- Shift options:
- 3 shifts of 12 hours (day or night) totaling 36 hours/week
- Other shift patterns include 8 or 10 hour shifts totaling 36-48 hours/week
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Certifications required:
- ACLS
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Clinical Environment & Patient Population
- Short-term acute care facility
- Patient conditions include ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, Acute Shock
- Procedures and equipment familiarity: Cath Lab, TR Bands, Sheath Pulls, EEGs, Cardioversion, Stress Tests
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Background checks required within 90 days of start, including 7-year work/living history, education verification, and national/statewide checks
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators only)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Strongly recommended but not required
- Flu vaccination/documentation required for flu season (no declinations accepted)
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start; chest x-ray required if positive history
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology test required
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment (within 2 years), with supervisory titles
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps of 30+ days
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, compliance, confidentiality, and policy forms prior to start
Important Notes
- Local candidates are not accepted for this travel position
- Must be willing and able to float as a resource traveler across multiple units including ICU, PCU, MS, and ED
- Indiana RN travelers will not be allowed to work at the facility after 11/30/24 except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN specialties
- Charting system used: Cerner
- Parking is free
- Scrub color: Red top, black bottoms
This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses comfortable with floating across critical care and related units, who hold all required certifications and licenses, and are ready for a 13-week travel contract in Indiana.
