Description
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Night Shift) – Travel/Contract
Location: Largo, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: May 18, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:30 - 08:00)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled; self-scheduling; floating within specialty required; no on-call
Job Details
- Patient population includes neonates, infants, and adults
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2, up to 1:3 for lower acuity patients
- Shift pattern: 36 hours per week accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Certifications: BLS issued by American Heart Association, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), STABLE
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and state-specific searches, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Education verification for highest level completed
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters required
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year, or 2-step PPD as per guidelines; must be updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/6 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥ 80%) within 1 year of start
- Age-specific competency exam (score ≥ 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥ 80%) for RN specialties
- Color blindness testing required
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo for badge
- Signed job description prior to start
- Confidentiality agreement signed before start
- Dress code review prior to start
- Latex allergy questionnaire completion
- Security ID application within 72 hours of contract signing
- Epic Portfolio Training Test Out form completion if applicable
References and Employment History
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (charge RNs or supervisors/managers)
- Employment application or resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)
Additional Notes
- Floating within the specialty is required
- Holidays and every other weekend shifts are mandatory as scheduled
- On-call duties are not required for this position
