Description
Registered Nurse - CVICU Pediatrics
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Specialty: Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of pediatric CVICU nursing experience (Level 1 experience required)
Job Description
- Provide nursing care to pediatric patients with cardiovascular conditions under general supervision.
- Manage an assigned group of patients, documenting responses to nursing interventions and physician orders.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor and obtain physiological data, intervene as necessary.
- Administer medications, regulate and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
- Deliver competent patient care and communicate care plans to patients and families.
- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures and make referrals as needed.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing.
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric CVICU nursing experience within the last year.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Skills
- Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
