Registered Nurse - NICU
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with NICU specialty for a Level 3 or 4 Intensive Care Nursery (ICN). This is a travel contract position with a 13-week duration.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Work Details
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week.
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2-4 patients.
- Call Requirement: No call.
- Float Requirement: May float to Pediatrics, PICU, or nursery caring for infants up to 12 months.
- Weekend Requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays over a 6-week period.
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling based on unit needs.
- Orientation: 24 hours of unit orientation provided.
- Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs.
Patient Population & Procedures
- Patient Diagnoses: Premature infants (as early as 22 weeks gestation), surgical infants, hypoxic injury cases.
- Special Procedures: Therapeutic hypothermia, nitric oxide therapy, umbilical arterial/venous catheters (UAC/UVC), Broviac lines, tracheostomies, gastrostomy tubes (GTT), ostomies.
- Equipment: Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion feeding pumps, Servo ventilators, High-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV), Baby Leo, Giraffe incubators.
- Unit Systems: Pyxis medication system, EPIC electronic health records, SBAR communication, 4P system.
Important Notes
- RTO (Return to Office) Policy: No RTO allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks.
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo required after signing contract (specific guidelines apply).
- Compliance: Must complete required background checks, health screenings, and facility-specific training prior to start.
- Flu Vaccination: Vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season.
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start required.
Summary
This NICU Registered Nurse travel contract requires a minimum of 3 years NICU experience at a Level 3 or 4 unit, ventilator skills, and current BLS and NRP certifications. The position offers 12-hour night shifts with no call and includes care for critically ill neonates with complex needs. First-time travelers are welcome. Orientation and self-scheduling are provided. Compliance with all health, background, and facility-specific requirements is mandatory.
