Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IR RN)
Location: Bakersfield, California
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN) to assist Interventional Radiologists with minimally invasive procedures. The role involves patient positioning, assisting in multiple modalities (CT, Ultrasound), and supporting procedural sedation.
Schedule & Work Hours
- 8-10 hour day shifts, Monday through Friday
- Rotating call required evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays (1 major & 1 minor holiday)
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- Floating required to a nearby sister facility (~6.5 miles away)
Patient Population & Procedures
- Procedures include biopsies, drainage, angiography, angioplasty, embolization, gastrostomy tubes, cryoablation, catheter/line placements, nephrostomy
- Average cases vary daily per campus
Required Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
Additional Information
- Orientation provided by Lead RN, approximately one week
- Scrubs provided (navy surgical scrubs)
- Staffing ratio: approximately 2.5 staff per 24 hours on weekdays
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with PICC lines and midlines
- Support Interventional Radiologists during procedures
- Knowledgeable about interventional radiology equipment and sedation protocols
- Assist in other imaging modalities as needed (CT, Ultrasound)
This position is ideal for an experienced IR RN comfortable with procedural sedation, call responsibilities, and floating between facilities.
