Description
Labor and Delivery Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Torrance, California
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
Beds: 356 staffed beds
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Support the AM shift with strong caregiving skills; precepting skills preferred
- Must be flexible to work weekends (weekend requirement depends on contract length)
- May be required to float to mother-baby unit and to a nearby facility within reasonable distance
- Local candidates within 50 miles radius accepted
- No on-call required
- Facility uses Epic for charting
- Free parking available
- Scrub color: any color allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with recent experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- AWHONN Advanced certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and testing:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug screen: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable with attestation)
- Respirator medical clearance required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (not required for sterile processing techs)
Background and Compliance
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education verification required for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript)
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- Various state-specific background checks and attestations as applicable
- Float policy acknowledgment required
Training and Competencies
- Completion of facility and specialty-specific WorkRamp modules prior to start (annual renewal required)
- Epic training modules required for SoCal region (transcripts must be submitted)
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or fetal heart rate monitoring assessment exam required for Labor & Delivery RNs
- Other certifications such as CPI, NIH Stroke, IV certification as applicable
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours with possibility of one call-off per two-week pay period
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Candidates must submit required documentation (licenses, certifications, background checks, health records) by hard doc deadline
- Local candidates accepted and first-time travelers are welcome
