Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Expected Patient Ratio: 1:3
  • Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • Floating: No floating between units
  • On-call: Not required
  • Block Schedules: Optional, not required
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma Center
  • Total Staffed Beds: 379
  • Uniform: Licensed nursing personnel wear solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except in specific pediatric or women's services units)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with ED experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Experience & References

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in ER nursing required
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
  • Immunizations and screenings:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
  • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable with attestation)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (annual for travel)

Background & Compliance

  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Education verification required for nursing degree
  • NURSYS license verification required
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment
  • Work history verification may be required for exceptions
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
  • Photo for badge required (passport style, neutral background)

Scheduling & Work Environment

  • Night shift with 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
  • No on-call or floating between units
  • 6 weekend shifts required every 6 weeks
  • Patient ratio 1:3

Additional Notes

  • Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots
  • Must comply with facility-specific float policy acknowledgment
  • Required to complete annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via WorkRamp LMS platform
  • Modules and certifications must be completed prior to start or as specified
