Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (RN-L&D)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Shift: Nights
Contract Length: Approximately 12 weeks
Job Summary
Provide nursing care in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act by applying professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in Labor & Delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments covering physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities; act as a patient advocate.
- Plan and prioritize patient care based on assessments; evaluate patient progress and revise care plans to achieve expected outcomes. Include patient and family in care planning and evaluation.
- Demonstrate clinical competencies specific to Labor & Delivery as per departmental standards.
- Assess patient and family learning needs; plan and provide education, involving other disciplines as needed, and evaluate teaching effectiveness.
- Identify and respond to ethical issues in patient care; provide non-judgmental nursing care respecting patient diversity and rights. Serve as a resource for ethical dilemmas.
- Collaborate with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care.
- Perform scrub duties for Obstetrics Operating Room procedures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for South Carolina.
- Experience in Labor & Delivery nursing (years of experience not explicitly stated; assume relevant clinical competency required).
