Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology Nurse

Job Summary

• Work in a fast-paced Medical Hematology/Oncology outpatient clinic.
• Responsibilities include triaging patient phone calls, responding to patient portal messages, entering physician orders (labs, diagnostics), following up on treatment plans and genetic testing.
• Coordinate diagnostics and patient care closely with Infusion and Radiation teams and physicians.
• Provide patient education related to chemotherapy.
• Track and manage patients receiving INR monitoring and iron infusions.
• Support Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

Schedule

• Day shift, Monday through Friday
• 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• Total 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 3 years of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• State-specific caregiver screening per Wisconsin requirements.
• Completion of facility-specific compliance checklist and confidentiality statement prior to start.
• Photo for badge required (passport-style, no filters).

Certifications and Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (ARC or AHA accepted).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended but not required for this role.
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) as applicable but not mandatory for this position.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative QGold TB test within 1 year of start (TSpot/PPD not accepted).
• Up-to-date immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen with expanded opiates within 14 days before start (instant tests not accepted). Positive marijuana test is not disqualifying.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (October to March).

References and Documentation

• Two professional references verified within 2 years of start.
• Annual skills checklist required.

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted but at a lower rate (pay details not included).
• Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
