Description
NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Provide specialized nursing care for critically ill neonates
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience in Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nursing, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with neonate patients
- Current certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including:
- FCRA-compliant 7-year search (SSN Trace, Counties, States, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually (must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing)
- Education verification required (CGFNS documentation accepted as placeholder for international education)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually; PAPRs require approval if needed due to facial hair exemptions
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history of positive TB
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with booster if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if titers negative/equivocal
- Annual flu vaccination documentation (no declinations accepted; exemptions require agency and facility approval)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test)
- Medication and ECG competency exams during orientation with required passing scores (SafeMedicate 90%, ECG 80%)
- Modules and competency exams are not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts at this facility
- Photo for badge may be required (shoulders up, head on, white background)
References and Work History
- Two professional references from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director) required
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area
Additional Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months may need to retake orientation modules and competency exams
- Facility accommodates latex allergies; notification required to ensure latex-free gloves are stocked
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
