Registered Nurse - Oncology Outpatient
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Days
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in an outpatient oncology setting. Coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver care to patients with complex oncology-related problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required.
- Assess patient and family readiness to learn; use appropriate patient education materials.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and revise plans of care.
- Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
- Anticipate discharge needs and support patient/family advocacy.
- Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and promote cost-effective care.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Engage in professional growth activities and intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
- Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Experience with infusion nursing in an oncology or related setting
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school.
