Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Night Shift)

Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Hours per Week: 34


Job Summary

Provide nursing care to patients of all ages experiencing acute illness or injury in the Emergency Room and Urgent Care setting. Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to deliver holistic, compassionate care that addresses clinical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care and maintain high patient satisfaction.


Essential Job Functions

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, documenting accurately.
  • Triage and prioritize patients based on acuity and resources.
  • Provide basic respiratory services including capnography, pulse oximetry, supplemental oxygen, and nebulized treatments.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately within team members’ scope of practice and ensure completion.
  • Follow laboratory procedures and safety guidelines when processing specimens.
  • Maintain composure and adapt to emergency situations and workplace changes.
  • Facilitate patient transfers and discharges.
  • Participate in policy development, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Assist with staff competency, training, and education.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
