    PACU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Santa Rosa, California


    Job Details

    • Position: PACU Registered Nurse
    • Location: Santa Rosa, California
    • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    • Contract Length: 13 weeks
    • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (11:00 AM - 11:00 PM)
    • Average Daily Census: 25-30 patients
    • Rooms/Beds: 8
    • Floating Requirements: Must float to Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), Home Health (HH), and other nearby facilities
    • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days

    Required Experience & Licensure

    • Valid RN license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
    • One completed travel assignment
    • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
    • Experience in an inpatient setting
    • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

    Certifications (Must be current and valid)

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AAP, AHA, or Canadian Pediatric Society certification (if applicable)
    • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
    • IV Certification (if applicable)
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)

    Note: Certification requirements depend on unit and specialty; verify with clinical track.


    Required Documentation & Background Checks

    • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
    • Social Security Card (required for certain state checks)
    • E-Verify attestation
    • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
      • SSN Trace
      • Death Master Index
      • Counties and Nationwide checks
      • National Sex Offender Registry
      • FACIS Level 3
      • Education Verification
      • Motor Vehicle Record (if Home Health)
      • International background check if applicable
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
    • Education verification for nursing degree (or equivalent)
    • State-specific searches as required (e.g., Washington State Patrol Search for WA placements)
    • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant acceptable with attestation)
    • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
    • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)

    Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
    • Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
    • Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use (travel only, annual)

    Training & Competency Requirements

    • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
    • Competency exams as required by specialty
    • Color blindness testing if required by unit
    • Specialty-specific competency exams (e.g., Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring for L&D RNs)
    • Annual regulatory and specialty-specific modules via WorkRamp LMS platform (required for travel and per diem)
    • Epic training modules completion required for certain regions and specialties (per diem only)

    Additional Notes

    • Scrubs provided
    • Floating to other facilities within reasonable distance is mandatory
    • No weekend requirement for this position
    • Background checks and documentation must be current and compliant with facility and state regulations
    • Modules and certifications must be completed prior to start or as specified

    This position is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with at least 2 years of acute inpatient experience, who are licensed in California and comfortable floating to multiple care settings. The role offers a structured day shift schedule with a 13-week contract length.
