Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- No scheduled on-call shifts
Unit and Patient Population
- Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU/CVICU)
- Adult and Geriatric patients
- Unit size: 15 beds, average daily census ~10
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1, up to 1:3 with stable, lower acuity patients
Patient Diagnoses and Procedures
- Common diagnoses: cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (including heart blocks), myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypertensive urgency/emergency
- Advanced therapies: LVAD, heart transplants, mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella)
- Procedures: bedside central and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan-Ganz/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
Equipment Used
- Impella, Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), CRRT machines, ventilators, cooling devices, continuous cardiac output monitors
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
