Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Shift Details

• Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
• No scheduled on-call shifts

Unit and Patient Population

• Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU/CVICU)
• Adult and Geriatric patients
• Unit size: 15 beds, average daily census ~10
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1, up to 1:3 with stable, lower acuity patients

Patient Diagnoses and Procedures

• Common diagnoses: cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (including heart blocks), myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypertensive urgency/emergency
• Advanced therapies: LVAD, heart transplants, mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella)
• Procedures: bedside central and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan-Ganz/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)

Equipment Used

• Impella, Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), CRRT machines, ventilators, cooling devices, continuous cardiac output monitors

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
