Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Round Rock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Backfill contract position in the Operating Room (OR)/Surgery department
• Shift schedule varies based on need; includes 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts, Tuesday through Friday (10:30 AM - 9:00 PM)
• Call requirements and possible weekend shifts based on unit needs
• Unit has 11 operating rooms with approximately 40 staff members across all shifts
• Patient ratio is 1:1
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Meditech

Unit & Work Environment

• Equipment includes microscopes, Da Vinci Xi robot, Mako robot, laparoscopic Stryker tower, Stealth navigation, and endovascular hybrid room equipment
• Team composition varies by shift, including RNs, techs, charge nurses, and patient care technicians
• Scrub color: light blue (scrubs provided)
• Flexible and adaptable team environment; willingness to assist new staff and pick up extra hours is valued but not mandatory

Typical Procedures

• General surgery, orthopedic, and neurosurgery procedures
• Robotic surgeries (thoracic, general, gynecology, urology)
• Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacements using Mako robot
• Cardiovascular surgeries including CABG, valve surgeries, aortic surgeries, TAVR, TCAR, TEVAR, EVAR, and open vascular cases

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Operating Room (OR) experience
• Experience in Orthopedic Surgery
• Experience in Neurosurgery

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma surgery experience
• Vascular surgery experience, including fistula creation and endarterectomy procedures

• Positive attitude toward occasional extra shifts and mentoring new grads

Hours Per Week

• Approximately 36 hours per week
