Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location
- La Plata, Maryland
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours each per week, totaling 36 hours)
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty and to mother/baby units as needed
- On-call not required
Patient Population
- Neonates, Adolescents, Adults
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications (must have at time of submission):
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NCC C-EFM
- STABLE
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- I9 or Attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, SSN trace, nationwide and county searches, sex offender registry, OFAC, education verification, and Maryland State Exclusions List
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification for highest level completed
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid white/beige background)
- Facility-specific agreements and confidentiality statements to be completed prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year of start (must be medically cleared to wear 3M N95 1860 respirator)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol (updated annually)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Drug testing:
- Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen (including Fentanyl), completed within 30-45 days prior to start
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation or declination collected for tracking
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80%+)
- Age-specific competency exam (score 80%+)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score 80%+)
- Color blindness testing
- Other competency exams as applicable by specialty/profession
References and Work History
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (charge RNs or supervisors/managers)
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)
Additional Notes
- All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; no changes allowed post-offer
- Candidates must sign all required job descriptions and confidentiality agreements prior to start
- Portfolio Epic training test-out option available for eligible candidates
- Floating may include mother/baby unit as needed
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Labor and Delivery unit caring for a diverse patient population with a supportive schedule and comprehensive credentialing requirements.
