Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Total 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Maryland
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Adult patients
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Employment verification for 2 workplaces within last 7 years (W2 or direct supervisor references acceptable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (pending results allowed with confirmation)
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella (boosters required if negative)
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters required if negative)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Respirator fit test (to be completed onsite; annual renewal required for new contracts)
  • EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (Relias or Prophecy platform only; must be renewed annually)
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Unit-specific skills checklist
  • Signed facility-specific policies including floating and time & attendance policies
  • Consent to release information form prior to start
  • I9 and E-Verify documentation

Certifications & Training

  • ACLS and BLS must be current AHA provider certifications (instructor cards and RQI accepted)
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, CPI, Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • Stroke and Trauma CEUs may be required; must be completed or updated annually as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must complete all labs by the Monday prior to start to ensure on-time onboarding
  • Background checks include SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, education verification, and international searches if applicable
  • Drug screen panel excludes Marijuana/THC
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years preferred (1 reference for non-acute care per diem)
  • Facility will provide radiation badges if applicable (not required for this role)
  • Candidate must acknowledge pass/fail testing policies and complete required competency exams within allowed attempts to avoid cancellation

This position offers a night shift travel opportunity for experienced Respiratory Therapists with critical care or ED experience, requiring comprehensive compliance and credentialing prior to start.
