    Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

    Location: Orange, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Details

    • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
    • Unit: Labor and Delivery
    • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet recognized
    • Charting System: Epic
    • Parking: Free
    • Scrub Color: Navy Blue for RNs; L&D/OR scrubs provided
    • Scheduling: Weekends may exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs
    • Local Radius: 50 miles

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid RN license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
    • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
    • AWHONN certification

    Compliance and Documentation Requirements

    • Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; open/active felony cases or multiple DUIs will disqualify
    • Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable if paired with attestation
    • Health Requirements:
      • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
      • Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
      • Immunizations and titers: TDAP, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted), COVID vaccination record preferred
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
      • Respiratory safety clearance (annual for travel)
    • Education Verification: Nursing degree verification required; international education requires diploma/transcripts or CES report
    • Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually for applicable units
    • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency and EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) training required for L&D RNs (EFM certification or fetal heart rate monitoring assessment exam)

    Additional Notes

    • Travel Pairs: Not accepted
    • Scheduling Requests: Requests due to outside employment will not be considered
    • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per pay period (2 weeks)
    • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required before start
    • Annual Training: Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific modules via LMS required
    • Float Policy: Acknowledgement required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities

    This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who have prior travel contract experience and meet all certification and licensure requirements.
