Description
Registered Nurse (Med/Tele - K3)
Location: Lufkin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- 18 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
- Patient diagnoses commonly include congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetes, pneumonia (PNA), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and medical/surgical telemetry patients
- Patients may require CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen support
Work Schedule & Environment
- 12-hour day shifts
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- Scheduling managed by leadership; block scheduling not guaranteed
- Every other weekend and holidays required
- Floating to all medical/surgical units expected
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
Staffing & Support
- Telemetry monitor technicians monitor patients, but RNs must be able to read cardiac strips
- Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) present with a ratio of 1:12
- Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators available for support
- Department orientation provided specific to the med/surg telemetry unit
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Strong communication and time management skills
