Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours, 18:30 - 7:00)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical (Med Surg) - Nights
• Option to work either 36 or 48 hours per week (48 hours typical for this posting)
• Patient population includes stroke and surgery patients
• Telemetry central monitoring tech available 24/7; nurse does not need to interpret dysrhythmias
• Float to other units required
• Weekend shifts as needed
• Unit welcomes first-time travel nurses

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Mexico
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical Surgical and Telemetry nursing
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance
• 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, and education verification
• Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only) and must be redone for every new contract
• Education verification with primary source online verification
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually (fit test done onsite)
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest X-ray if positive history
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Photo for badge (clear headshot)
• Completion of employment application/resume
• Unit-specific skills checklist annually
• 7-year work history verification

• Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance
• References are not required for clearance but professional references may be requested internally
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome
