Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Endoscopy

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Assignment Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Work in Endoscopy department covering both outpatient and hospital endoscopy locations on the same campus.
  • Day shift, typically 5 days a week, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with 2-3 late days per week based on procedure census.
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
  • Weekend hours required as per facility schedule (up to one weekend per 6-week schedule).
  • Call requirements: up to 4-7 call days per 6-week schedule, including 2 call days over one weekend.
  • No floating to other units.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Endoscopy nursing experience within the last year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) certification recommended within 2 years of hire (not required).

Unit & Patient Care Information

  • Unit includes up to 9 procedure rooms and 36 pre/post procedure bays.
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2.
  • Procedures per room average 18-21 per physician per shift.
  • Equipment used includes Olympus scopes, ERBE cautery units, video/fiberoptic endoscopic systems, fluoroscopy, IV pumps, and patient monitoring equipment.
  • Patients include both inpatient and outpatient populations.

Skills & Experience

  • Basic dysrhythmia knowledge required.
  • Ability to work with delicate instruments and specialized endoscopy tools.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate closely with physicians and staff.
  • Ability to perform direct patient care activities including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for most of the shift and meet physical demands such as lifting/moving equipment (up to 40-50 lbs), and occasional low-positioned work (kneeling, crouching, crawling).
  • Experience working with fluoroscopy.

Work Environment & Dress Code

  • Fast-paced, teamwork-driven environment.
  • Scrub color: Black or provided surgical scrubs only. No other attire permitted.

Additional Requirements

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel period November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted.
  • Must be available to start within 4 weeks of submission.
  • Auto-offer position contingent on facility approval.
