Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Location
- Boise, Idaho
Assignment Details
- Travel assignment length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Shift hours: 12-hour shifts (06:50 PM – 07:20 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Weekend and holiday scheduling based on unit needs; occasional holiday shifts possible
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to nearby hospitals (within 20 minutes) and to a high-risk Antepartum unit (13 beds)
Unit Information
- Labor and Delivery unit on 2nd floor
- 16 Labor & Delivery beds, 13 Antepartum beds, 8 Triage beds
- 3 OR suites dedicated for C-sections
- 32 Postpartum beds located on a separate Mother Baby Care Unit
- Approximately 320-400 deliveries per month (4,194 deliveries in 2023)
- OB Laborist and Neonatologists available 24/7
- Anesthesia provided by designated CRNA 24/7
- Charge nurse present on each shift (does not take patient assignments unless absolutely necessary)
- Certified Surgical Techs present every shift
- No Telemetry techs on unit; cardiac strips read by Tele techs if patient is on Telemetry
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring system: Centricity Perinatal (GE)
Patient Population and Common Diagnoses
- High-risk patients including preeclampsia, placenta previa, twins, and diabetic mothers
- Skills needed in pre-term labor, C-sections, recoveries, and high-risk patient care
Required Skills and Responsibilities
- Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) care
- Circulate in the OR during C-sections
- Titrate drips such as Pitocin (1-20 ml/units, up to 40 ml/units) and insulin
- Initial neonatal resuscitation (NRP) until NICU team arrives; no ongoing respiratory therapy duties beyond troubleshooting
Orientation
- One shift orientation in each area: Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, and Labor & Delivery OR
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- STABLE certification
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring courses
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience (higher of stated requirements)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs comfortable with high-acuity patients and skilled in both clinical and perioperative nursing within obstetrics.
