Description
Radiologic Technologist - Computed Tomography
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Job Summary
Under general supervision, perform computerized tomographic (CT) radiological procedures on patients. May also perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Duties include preparing patients, operating CT equipment, administering intravenous contrast media, assisting radiologists with complex procedures, and ensuring high-quality imaging and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Explain examination procedures and prepare patients for CT scans.
- Review clinical data and patient medical history to perform appropriate examinations.
- Prepare procedure rooms and maintain supplies.
- Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and manually control CT scanners to obtain diagnostic images.
- Administer intravenous contrast media using power injectors; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if needed.
- Assist radiologists with sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
- Apply radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques).
- Manage image quality and delivery in PACS; complete study indexing in Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Communicate and confirm clinical protocols with radiologists before studies.
- Complete all required documentation in medical records and radiology systems.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills consistently.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Computed Tomography (CT).
- Minimum of 1 year of CT technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
