Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Progressive Care (Step Down)
Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (1900-0700)
Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
Unit & Patient Population
- Cardiac Transitional Care Unit (Step Down)
- Patient ratio approximately 3-4:1
- Usual stepdown equipment
- EMR system: EPIC
- Patients primarily cardiac stepdown cases
Job Summary
Provide nursing care by:
- Developing nursing diagnoses and care plans
- Delivering physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families
- Monitoring and reporting changes in patient conditions
- Administering medications, wound care, IV therapy including central line care
- Preparing patients for exams and explaining procedures/discharge instructions
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to assess and modify care plans
- Ensuring compliance with professional standards, policies, and safety protocols
- Supervising and delegating to unlicensed assistive personnel as appropriate
- Advocating for patient safety and maintaining confidentiality
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Work Environment & Expectations
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
- Weekend and call hours as required by facility
- Float to other units as needed
- Dress code: Black scrubs required
