Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Travel Assignment

Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Variable (orientation on day shift, must be available full week for orientation)
Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
Weekend Hours: Alternating, as required by facility
Call Requirements: As required by facility

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a medical-surgical setting within an Emergency Department Clinical Decision Unit (not an ER position)
• Coordinate, plan, direct, and implement the nursing process for patient care
• Manage a high volume of admissions
• Float to any inpatient unit as required
• Patient ratio approximately 4-6:1 (estimates)
• Unit has 8 beds
• EMR system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification from AHA
• Experience with Neuro and Stroke patients highly preferred

• Facility requires flu vaccination or approved exemption from November 1 to April 1 (declinations not accepted)

• Typical patients include ER observation and admission cases
• Clinical Decision Unit focused on medical-surgical care, not emergency room care

Additional Notes

• Must be flexible with variable shifts and floating to other inpatient units
• Orientation requires full availability during the first week on day shift
